Protect our Pets

We love our pets and go to great lengths to care for them: trips to the vet, special toys and food -- even microchipping in case they wander too far from home.

But right now, these pets are at risk. If a pet goes missing and ends up at a local shelter, current law allows so-called "Class B dealers" are to obtain animals from networks of animal shelters or shady suppliers, often using falsified records.

Class B dealers then illegally sell animals to research facilities, where they can be tested in cruel experimental procedures.

Federal agencies have tried to regulate these dealers but to no avail. It's time to step up: Congress must ensure these cruel acts finally stop, once and for all.
