If you hang out at Mar-a-Lago every day, you'd probably think everything was pretty good. Nice economy, good food, the President showing up on vacation a bunch — I get how someone could think that.
Well, for the millionaires, billionaires, Trump's friends, Republican politicians, and Republican megadonors, life is pretty good. Tax breaks, jacking up prices and bringing in more money, and if you are nice enough to Trump and you commit some fraud or financial crimes, you can just get a pardon.
But for the people who aren't millionaires and billionaires, for the people who aren't at Mar-a-Lago every day, and for the people who aren't Republican megadonors, reality is quite different.
Homeownership is harder now than it has been at any time in American history. Homes are incredibly expensive, and inflation has priced out so many people and families from realizing the dream of owning a home. Because of that, first-time homebuying is also at an all-time low.
Our government could be helping everyday Americans by lowering housing costs. Instead, Trump and Republicans are focused on keeping those Mar-a-Lago guests' bank accounts full. Levying more tariffs and continuing an illegal war to drive prices up. And giving their tech CEO friends $70 billion in ICE funding for more surveillance of Americans.
The United States created a measly 57,000 jobs in June. That's almost 100,000 fewer jobs than Biden created nearly every month of his presidency. So, when the GOP says that the economy is "pretty good," who do you think it's good for? The millionaires and billionaires who support them through dark money Super PACs.
That's why I took the no corporate PAC pledge. Because I need you to know that I have no interest in the strings attached to that kind of money — I serve you, not some corporate overlord or billionaire Mar-a-Lago guest.
So let's be honest with each other: the Trump economy sucks. I'm running for reelection to fix our economy so that it prioritizes and supports regular, hard-working Americans. Millionaires and billionaires are fine; they don't need help. That's why I don't take corporate PAC money, and why I'm asking for your support. Can you chip in $7 to my campaign and help me win reelection in November?
My promise to you is that nobody can buy my vote. The people living and working in my district are my boss, and I listen to them. And it's for them — for every American — that I work to make sure our economy is fair, and our priorities as a nation reflect our values.
