Trump’s racism is hurting the World Cup already; it hasn’t even started yet

Donald Trump's racist immigration tirade has already hurt the World Cup, and it hasn't even started yet (it starts tonight).

Let's put aside the absurd ticket prices, let's put aside the corrupt deal to give Trump some weird "Peace Prize" a few days before he decides to bomb Iran, and let's put aside his Gestapo killing and arresting American citizens.

Already, a referee — who was a "Referee of the Year" in 2025 — has been barred from entering the U.S. and prevented from being able to officiate his games because he's from Somalia. His name is Omar Artan.

He would be the first Somali referee to ever officiate a World Cup game. He could have done it here in America, where we have incredible, thriving Somali communities across the country. Instead, Trump and his administration's bigoted thinking strike again.
