Real people, not gilded ballroom donors or billionaire back rooms

Some things in politics are more complicated than others. It takes a lot of work to find a solution to a complex issue and make it work for a nation of around 400 million people.

But feeding families and ensuring adequate access to healthcare are not complicated. Every single one of us can agree that our government can help hardworking families put food on the table and go to the doctor when they're sick.

But not this administration.

While families are stretching each dollar to make ends meet, Trump has been busy building a shiny ballroom for his donors and illegally withholding food from 42 million Americans. Kids. Veterans. Seniors. Working Americans.

Not once, but twice, federal courts ordered Trump to pay the benefits he owed to Americans in full. And twice he refused to do so, appealing to the highest court in the land instead. He'd rather drag hungry families all the way up to the Supreme Court than distribute the benefits he is legally required to provide.

This Republican Party has made its policy position abundantly clear: they will give you your food if you let them take away your healthcare. That is unacceptable. And I refuse to let that become the norm for American Families.

Fighting the cruelty of the Republicans in Congress and this administration takes resources. Real, grassroots resources that come from people, not gilded ballroom donors or billionaire back rooms.

I believe the government should help its people rather than hurt them. If you agree, will you donate $3 to my campaign to fight back with me? Every dollar goes towards protecting the families the Republicans are so eager to abandon. I won't let them starve people out to score political points for themselves.

More soon,

Jim McGovern
