Just one question for my Republican colleagues:
This week, we were treated to a rare sight here on Capitol Hill: the House Republican conference.
After a seven-week, taxpayer-funded vacation, they finally returned to the House chambers to do the bare minimum of the job they were elected to do.
I had just one question for my returning colleagues: Where the hell have you been?

While Republicans were lounging around at home, Americans were missing paychecks, skipping meals, and watching the cost of living skyrocket. During such a crisis, people should be able to look to their government and see leaders working towards a solution.
What they saw instead from their Republican representatives was abandoned offices and abdication of any and all responsibility to their constituents.
Democrats were working around the clock to reopen the government and resume the delivery of crucial government services, but without a single Republican to be found. Now, they're back to pass a bill that does not extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies, which are crucial to keeping costs from doubling and tripling, and is rife with corrupt bargains to benefit themselves and their donors.
This is what we've come to expect from the GOP. While Democrats showed up to protect the livelihoods of millions, Republicans sold us out once again.
We have no use for so-called "leaders" who wait at home for the Speaker or the President to tell them what to do, while millions of our fellow Americans suffer. Will you donate $3 to my campaign today to help Democrats take back the House in 2026?
More soon,
Jim McGovern
