Trump “loves” democracy so much, he wants to make it harder to participate
Donald Trump is back at it — spewing lies about vote-by-mail and plotting new ways to rip ballots out of the hands of American voters.
Let's be perfectly clear: vote-by-mail is safe, secure, and essential. Our seniors depend on it. Our service members overseas depend on it. Rural Americans, people with disabilities, busy working parents — millions of us rely on it to make our voices heard.
People who love democracy want to make it as easy as possible for citizens to be able to cast their vote. After all, it's the whole point of a democracy – the ability for people to govern themselves.
And Trump hates it.
Instead of respecting democracy, he's doing what he always does: trying to cling to power by disenfranchising voters and spreading chaos. His attacks on vote-by-mail are nothing more than an assault on our democracy itself.
I've had enough. I bet you have, too.
This fight isn't abstract. It's not a drill. Trump wants to silence us. And if we don't fight back, he'll get away with it.
Think about the last few weeks alone: Republicans decided to gerrymander Texas to dilute Black and Latino people's votes. Now, as the map in Texas is passing through the state government, Donald Trump is showing how much he "loves" democracy by making it harder for people to vote because he wants to end voting by mail.
Let's stand up together — for every voter, for every ballot, and for the future of our democracy.
In solidarity,
Jim
