The price of doing things the right way
The Supreme Court’s ruling in Citizens United opened the floodgates for special interest groups and their wealthy donors to spend nearly unlimited amounts of money in our elections.
This election is no exception to that dangerous reality.
In May, Donald Trump turned to Republican’s vast networks of ultra-rich donors for a quick influx of cash.
Republicans know their radical agenda items of abortion bans, tax cuts for the rich, and climate inaction are deeply unpopular with the American people. So, they think they can buy the elected office to force through their laundry list of horrors.
You and I both know that this flies in the face of the democratic values we, as Americans, hold dear. Corporations, billionaires, and special interest groups should not have a larger say in our election than the average citizen. That’s why I pledged not to take a dime from corporate PACs years ago, and I haven’t looked back.
Yours in the fight,
Jim
