Republicans aren’t satisfied with state abortion bans.

It's only been a year since the corrupt Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and callously handed states the power to restrict or ban abortion without any regard for the consequences — and the extreme, anti-choice GOP wasted no time. Republican-led states ruthlessly ripped away abortion access from millions.

In just the first 100 days after the Dobbs decision, more than 22 million people lost abortion rights. Right now, 15 states have enacted bans or severe restrictions on abortion.

Over the past year, state legislatures have worked to pass laws to punish patients for traveling out of state for abortion care.

There is an ongoing legal case to ban mifepristone — a safe, effective abortion medication — tied up in the courts.

Congressional Republicans have already made it clear they support a national abortion ban.

With all this, we now live in a country where my daughter has fewer rights than her grandmother did.

Here's the truth – support for abortion rights is soaring right now. Most Americans want to keep abortion safe and legal.

But Republicans don't care what the people want.

Ever since deep-red Kansas voted to keep abortion legal, lawmakers in states like Ohio are doing everything they can to keep abortion off the ballot, afraid of what the people will decide.

That's not democracy, it's an abomination!

While abortion remains safe and legal in Massachusetts and other states led by Democrats, we know that's not enough.

We must fight like hell to codify abortion rights for all 50 states, and to do that, we need an unapologetically pro-choice majority that truly represents the American people.

Don't let this be only a somber anniversary — instead, let's renew our determination and continue the battle for bodily autonomy for all! We won't stop until abortion is safe and legal for everyone.

Yours in the fight,

Jim
