Let’s set the record straight
Jim is a leader in the fight to end hunger in the United States. It affects Americans in every state, city, and county. From the bluest of blue states to the deepest of red, there are more than 30 million Americans who are food insecure.
Not only do we have a moral imperative to ensure our fellow Americans are fed, but hunger also costs the United States hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars every year with lost productivity and preventable health care costs.
One of the most critical programs Jim has been fighting for is SNAP, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, which helps people afford the food they need. During the pandemic, Congress wisely bolstered this program, but that additional funding recently ended.
Now Republicans in Congress are bringing out the same old tired myths to try to justify cutting SNAP. Don't believe their falsehoods and hurtful rhetoric.
Programs like SNAP are essential – we must expand, not heartlessly gut them.
Hunger is a political condition. America is the land of abundance, yet millions of people go hungry every single day. We must elect leaders like Jim, who see the inhumanity of hunger and who will fight like hell to end hunger in the United States once and for all.
