Nutrition doesn’t play politics

If we want our kids to be competitive in a 21st-century global economy, we have to provide them with more than just math, reading, and science instruction.

We must provide students with access to healthy food.

All too often, school meals don't taste all that great and aren't as nutritious as they could be. School food service workers want to serve healthier and more creative meals but are often limited due to cost. The recent increases in food prices have only exacerbated the problem.

To combat this, I've introduced legislation to increase federal reimbursement for every school breakfast and lunch. This will allow districts to provide healthier, local, and better-tasting food to our students.

This legislation is a long-term solution that helps the economy, farmers, and our students.

School meals help shape lifelong eating habits. We should do everything we can to ensure our students build healthy ones. Our kids deserve nothing less.

Hunger isn't partisan. Nutrition doesn't play politics. This should pass with bipartisan support.
