Three words come to mind
After hearing President Biden's impactful words at the State of the Union Tuesday evening, three words came to mind:
When we invested in our nation's crumbling infrastructure, we put people over politics.
When we allowed Medicare to negotiate drug prices down and capped costs for seniors, we put people over politics.
When we passed historic investments in clean energy, we put people over politics.
When we protected federal marriage equality, we put people over politics.
Tuesday night, we saw Republicans putting politics over people again as some of their ranks heckled the President of the United States. That kind of showboating isn't about solving problems – it's about getting booked on Tucker tomorrow night.
We need a nation of leaders who care more for their constituents than for consolidating power. Because the truth is, the work is not over.
Millions of Americans are still facing hunger, pharmaceutical companies continue to raise the prices of essential medications, women across the country have lost access to abortion care, and our economy still works best for those at the top.
More soon,
Jim
