I'm someone who believes in the power of democracy. I think our political differences, and the creative tension provided by opposing forces working together, make our country stronger. We settle our disagreements at the ballot box, and we accept the outcome, win or lose.
But let's not let radical right-wing politicians off the hook by downplaying violence and lies as "disagreement.
The truth is that fascists are on the ballot across the country, spewing disinformation that undermines our democracy. And they're counting on folks to shrug it off as a difference of opinion.
You and I both know the stakes are much higher. And we have less than four weeks to ensure we get the truth out to every voter. Can you chip in $7 to elect honest, progressive, pro-democracy candidates up and down the ballot?
Tomorrow, the January 6 committee will resume hearings to examine how those lies killed people and shook our democracy to its foundations.
Denying the simple math of ballot counting isn't a "debate." It's a lie.
Attempting to decertify election results and replace them with bogus slates of electors isn't "disagreement." It's fraud.
Attacking the seat of our government to drown out the truth isn't "political expression." It's an insurrection.
We have to step up like never before–not to confront disagreement but to defeat liars and let the extremists know that their poisonous rhetoric has no place in our government.
