This critical and historic hearing, derailed by Senate Republicans

The confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson has shown Republicans for what they are: disrespectful and unserious.

She is arguably one of the most qualified judges ever nominated for the Supreme Court. But, since President Biden nominated her, Republicans have done all they can to derail this critical and historic hearing.

From condescending lectures to thinly-veiled (or obvious) racism and airing of grievances, Senate Republicans hope to paint Judge Jackson as a radical choice – which couldn't be further from the truth.

If Republicans take back the majority, we will see this kind of obstructionism regularly.

That's why these midterm elections are so important. We must keep our majority. Donate $3 today before our end-of-quarter deadline to help defend and expand our majority in Congress.

One Senator asked Judge Jackson if babies could be racist. This disgusting rhetoric is meant to appeal to the worst impulses of the GOP. Another has scolded her about being "soft on crime." Nonsense. Her record as a judge is fair and she's proud of her family serving honorably in law enforcement.

To her credit, Judge Jackson has responded with grace and calm – the very qualities we want in a Supreme Court Justice. Judge Jackson's brilliant mastery of the law is on full display even in the face of GOP grandstanding. That's what observers will remember.

You know what else observers will remember? The first Black woman nominee to the nation's highest court being subjected to Republican tantrums and made-for-TV gotcha questions. That's not statesmanship. That's buffoonery.

As you and I both know, this is straight out of the Republican playbook. They'll keep pulling stunts like this instead of actually legislating as long as they have power.

We can't let Republicans take back Congress during the midterm elections. The stakes are too high.

Please consider donating before our end-of-quarter deadline, March 31, to help keep Republicans in the minority.
