Action and investment in infrastructure
Crumbling infrastructure can be deadly to people and disastrous for the environment. It's something I've been working on for years.
We took a huge step forward when we passed the bipartisan infrastructure law in Congress last year. Finally, we are tangibly investing in our roads, bridges, buildings, and more. It's about time!
Now that we're investing in infrastructure, we must build a transportation system for the future. I'm talking about high-performance intercity rail.
Think of the possibilities. Cities like Boston have only been accessible by car from Western Massachusetts and the existing rail service in Central Massachusetts should be faster and more frequent. We can change this and make traveling to and from more accessible for ALL.
High-performance rail is also a fantastic way to decarbonize our infrastructure and reduce harmful carbon pollution. More people riding high-performance rail, means fewer cars on the road, less traffic congestion, and less pollution. High-performance rail lines connecting major cities could be an absolute game-changer for commuters.
Thanks to the new bipartisan infrastructure law, high-performance rail could soon be a reality. I'm fighting to make it happen.
I've spent my career fighting for better infrastructure investment. Passing the infrastructure bill was only the beginning. We must invest in smart transportation options like high-performance rail and create a 21st century transportation system for our future.
