Why I turned my back on corporate PAC money
Three years ago, I took a big pledge: no more corporate PAC money for my campaign – ever.
You know what? I don't miss it one bit.
Of course, we need money to win elections (and it's why your continued grassroots support is so critical. It pays for our organizing efforts and wages for our staff – the nuts and bolts of our operation.
But for too many politicians, that corporate money is a tantalizing object, offered with a wink and a nod. You scratch my back, and...
This isn't to say that corporations are all bad, or the people who work for them can't do worlds of good for our country. But I think you'll agree with me when I say that big money in politics is poisonous.
And us? We're the antidote.
After Donald Trump's stinging defeat in 2020, you can bet our opponents (and the big money behind them) are going to go all-out to win and take over the House.
And if they do? Throw any hopes for our progressive plans out the window. And you can say goodbye to the critical investigations into Trump's Big Lie, the January 6 insurrection, and what we need to do to defend our democracy.
Back to it.
