They voted to bust open our budget with Donald Trump's tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. Now? They don't want to pay our bills.

Congress created the debt ceiling. We can abolish it, especially if it's only realistically being used for political games. Like when Republicans are daring America to default on its debt.

Sign the petition: urge Congress to eliminate the debt ceiling.

This isn't actually about the long-term financial health of our country.

We could have easily not passed these ridiculous tax cut giveaways, just like we could make significant cuts to our bloated Pentagon budget. There are always better ways to begin talking about fiscal responsibility than watching Republicans throwing their childish "just don't pay" tantrums.

If we actually allow the United States to default on its debts, the consequences will be devastating. Jobs will be lost. Social Security payments will be stalled. And our recovering economy will take a massive hit.

That must not happen.

Please join me in urging Congress to take a stand by voting to end the debt ceiling for good.
