Ignorant? Faking? I don’t care.
The west is on fire. The south is flooded. The east is being ravaged by generational storms.
Republican politicians send thoughts and prayers, asking: how is this happening?
I don't know whether they're really that ignorant or if they're just faking it.
And I don't know which is worse.
And I don't care; either way, they've made it clear that they're on the wrong side of this fight.
I don't know how many times we'll need to say climate change is real. But I'm willing to keep beating the drum on this one, because the alternative is more – and worsening – disasters.
We're already feeling the effects of climate change. That's a fact, and no amount of hopeful (or spiteful or ignorant) words will make that go away.
What can we do? Elect better leaders. Fight like our families' lives depend on it. Because this isn't over. We can't resign ourselves to a future where climate disasters define who we are.
I wholly believe the history books will describe these next few generations as the ones who saved the human race, who stood up against the old ways that pushed us to the brink of climate disaster... and pulled us back.
The first step isn't complicated: ensuring progressive fighters are elected to Congress – bold leaders who believe in climate science and want to do everything we can to take it on.
