A silent epidemic, plaguing our country
As our nation moved earlier this year to shore up the COVID-19 pandemic after President Joe Biden's inauguration, here's what I wrote about a grave problem that was happening simultaneously:
Hunger is the silent epidemic, something far too many Americans quietly suffer, too often — all while our nation's wealthiest are raking in billions at historic rates.
So many families are at the breaking point, and that's why I'm calling on President Biden to appoint a national White House Conference on Hunger to take the lead on this crisis.
Sign my petition and urge him to do it today.
A White House Conference on Hunger would demonstrate that the Biden Administration is aware of this plight and fully committed to addressing hunger across America — not just with one-time COVID relief, but with a comprehensive, ongoing strategy built from the foundations of this administration.
This is not only a direct response to the Trump administration cutting SNAP benefits, but the overall inability of multiple administrations to address a consistent problem across America.
The Biden Administration must take immediate action and demonstrate its commitment to fighting hunger across America. Naming a White House Conference on Hunger would do just that.
