Outdated, racist, and wrong
Bay Staters have spoken. Cannabis is legal here in Massachusetts.
A big problem remains: while we're moving on from the war on drugs, our federal government is stuck in the past.
That includes each and every person still in jail for cannabis-related crimes, who are disproportionately Black and Brown.
President Biden has a responsibility to right a generational wrong by ending the federal prohibition on cannabis for adults, including working on justice reform for those impacted by the war on drugs. I'm proud to be on the front lines of this work in Congress, and will keep pushing to at last end decades of failed policy.
Please sign this urgent petition: end the federal prohibition on cannabis now.
These laws are outdated, racist, and wrong. It's just that simple.
Our families — and our communities — cannot be made whole until we fix this problem.
By ending the federal prohibition on cannabis and by pushing for justice reform, we are taking a big step toward admitting an awful truth: our country made a horrible mistake that hurt a lot of people.
It's up to us to get this done, and up to our community of progressives to stand up for what's right.
Because, even if Massachusetts is moving in a good direction, we must move together as a nation on this critical issue.
