Update on Reopening Schools

I've written to you time and again about Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, her manipulative and self-serving policies, and the threat she poses to our students. Right now, the power she wields to re-open our schools and her self-serving leadership could have grave consequences.

We cannot allow DeVos to reopen schools without a plan, and she's consistently failed to provide the answers, the confidence, and the funding we need to do so safely.

Sign the petition: For the sake of our children, Betsy DeVos must resign.

In addition to threatening the health of millions of children, DeVos is bad for our kids from just about every angle:

• Student Loans: held in contempt of court for violating an order to stop collecting loans from thousands of former students at for-profit colleges that shut down over allegations of fraud.
• Childhood Literacy: cut funding for childhood literacy programs.
• LGBTQIA+: rolled back protections for children of color and LGBTQIA+ students.
• Special Education: proposed cutting funding for the Special Olympics.
• School Shootings: has made no efforts to end the school shooting crisis in this country, aside from allowing schools to use federal money to buy guns.
• Sexual Assault and Harassment: gutted Title IX protections for student survivors of assault and harassment.

DeVos will not stop prioritizing her loyalty to partisan politics, special interest groups, Trump, and hate.

It's time to end her chapter as Secretary of Education before she puts our children in the center of the coronavirus pandemic. It's time for her to resign.
