a good place to start
In Massachusetts, we have the lowest firearm fatality rate among urban states. To me, that means prevention policies work. Nationally, we have the right and responsibility to implement and enforce common sense gun control laws. I'm starting with the banning of assault-style rifles – join me by signing our petition.
We're worn from the grief of the massacres.
We're tired of trying to comfort the inconsolable parents whose children were killed.
We're fed up.
This Democratic majority in Congress is going to be run by the people of this country – not special interests like the NRA – especially not when our lives are at stake. That's why I'm calling on my colleagues in Congress to ban assault weapons.
Our current system prioritizes the profits of gun manufacturers over people – law books are littered with loopholes that allow people who are prohibited from buying guns to buy them anyway. Sign the petition to ban assault weapons right now.
This isn't a complete solution, but it's sure a good place to start.
More soon,
Jim
