some quick pro tips
This President's Day it's hard not to look longingly towards 2020.
We've dealt with a wide range of unprecedented (and frankly, un-presidential) behavior for the last two years. From hateful fear-mongering, to whatever "covfefe" was, to a government shutdown and policies that took a direct toll on the American people.
In the next few months, challengers will emerge. I think the American people have a few tips for presidential hopefuls:
- Have someone proofread your tweets. Consider avoiding caps lock.
- Watch an episode of "Schoolhouse Rock," ideally the one where the bill becomes a law.
- If you've shut down the government, make reservations ahead of having dinner guests. Cold "hamberders" are not a hit.
- Swatch-test your spray tan before full-body application.
- Something, something, avoid Putin.
- Air Force One (1997) was not a documentary.
- The unique thing about laws is that they aren't optional. Follow them accordingly.
- Don't lie. It's noticeable and frankly embarrassing to watch.
- Even if "you're fired" is part of your #brand, try to keep your staff around long enough to accomplish something the American people want.
- Remember the basics: names of high-level officials like Supreme Court Justices, attend security briefings, and the words to the national anthem.
