yikes
Like many of you, I found myself...unsettled...during the State of the Union address.
As much as I'd like to attribute it to the unseasonably warm temperatures in DC today, or perhaps the uncomfortable chairs – let's get real – it was the attempt to re-write history, the divisive vitriol, and the failure to advocate for the people.
Sure, the President spoke about bipartisanship. The problem? Both Democrats and Republicans passed spending bills in December – he shut the government down.
Worried about immigration? Great – same here. But the President fabricated a crisis at the Southern Border to further a xenophobic agenda. As for that wall: most illicit drugs are smuggled through legal ports of entry. A multi-billion dollar vanity project won't fix that.
What about us? From environmental protections to government ethics to a woman's right to choose – American values and progress are under attack.
In 2020, we finish that for good. That means holding Trump and his enablers accountable in the meantime.
