People got sick. Sometimes they died.
I was a kid when the EPA was first created.
I remember the horror stories from before it existed. Toxic runoff was dumped into rivers and watersheds. The sky was choked with thick smoke.
People got sick. Sometimes they died.
Fortunately, I raised my children in an era with stronger environmental protections, in large part thanks to the EPA. But that's all at risk under Trump's EPA and Scott Pruitt.
Pruitt meets over and over with fossil fuel industry insiders. They're all committed to undoing decades of work to protect America's clean air and water, our public lands, and against climate change.
Scientists, public health professionals, and environmental advocates don't have a real seat at the table anymore. Pruitt has met with them only a handful of times.
The EPA's agenda should not be set by the very industries it's supposed to regulate.
