A Beacon of Hope

For centuries, our country has stood as a beacon of hope to the world, giving refuge to those fleeing war, famine, and religious persecution.

Recently, we learned that Trump’s administration won’t be fighting the courts on his failed Executive Order to prevent Muslim travelers from entering the country — but we must remain vigilant.

Trump promises to issue a new shameful order, and we can expect more religious and ethnic exclusion that flies in the face of our American values.

Religious tests like these stigmatize Muslim refugees and do not make us safer. Hundreds of innocent travelers were wrongfully detained by border authorities, including students, families, and workers right here in Massachusetts.

Trump’s reckless executive order was an assault on our American values – and while it has been defeated in court for now, I’m working hard in Congress to defeat it for good.
