Why I swore off corporate PAC money
Our system is rigged for those on top. We have economic policies that favor the rich and inaction on climate change despite all the evidence of its impact, and people rightly wonder who politicians are working for.
I never want anyone to have to wonder who I am working for, so four years ago today, I decided to swear off corporate PAC money for good.
And I've never looked back.
After the disastrous Citizens United decision, dark money has poured into our elections. And we've seen the rise of Super PACS, political action committees that can take unlimited donations from people or corporations to spend on behalf of candidates.
Of course, it takes money to win elections, and not all corporations are bad (and people who work for them have and will do amazing things). But I think you'll agree when I say that big money in politics is poisonous. There are always strings attached.
In 2022, grassroots movements around the country turned the "red wave" into a mere pink splash. Together, we are more powerful than any corporate special interest.
Back to it.
