This year was special. Here's why:

Springfield and Greenfield are more than forty miles apart. But it's not the distance that matters here or the chill in the air.

Each year, we march to fight hunger in our community. And each year, we gain a little bit more momentum as people join us on Monte's March.

This year's walk was inspiring. I say it every year, but each time feels bigger and better, because I see so many new faces, and we bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight hunger.

But each walk, and especially this year's, is also about building momentum.

We've put together a plan to hold a unifying conference on hunger out of the White House, and every person we can get involved in our fight against hunger is a building block to finally put some serious policy muscle behind this plan.

But that comes next. Right now? Through our combined efforts we've raised over $500,000 for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

And that's actual meals on the table. Hope as the months turn cold.

And that means so much right now.

We'll be back out there next year. And the year after. And each year after that—as long as it takes.

Because this matters. A lot.

P.S. It's not too late: Donate to support food banks in Central and Western Massachusetts.
