Three big concerns about the Texas abortion law:

The radical right has been waging war on reproductive rights for decades, aided by Republican politicians at all levels. More recently, as the Republican party has gone completely off the rails with arrogance and lies, they've resorted to scorched-earth tactics.

And earlier this month, those tactics earned them a horrifying victory when the Supreme Court refused to block the State of Texas's new cruel, unconstitutional abortion ban.

The right-wing extremists on the Court will continue to erode these rights. That's why we're fighting to expand our Congressional majority and pass a bold, unambiguous law to protect reproductive rights. Chip in now to elect a progressive, pro-choice Congress!

There's a lot to unpack here, but I want to focus on three big concerns:

  1. The Texas law bans abortion after six weeks – that's before many people even know they're pregnant. It's an unreasonable, unworkable, cynical attack on the right to choose.

  2. The law outsources enforcement to citizens, offering a $10,000 bounty (paid for by the defendant) for anti-choice crusaders to sue anyone who "facilitates" an abortion. If you're thinking "that kind of wild-west-style vigilanteism will tear communities apart," you're right.

  3. The Supreme Court's unwillingness to block the law's implementation – despite the fact that it so obviously defies Roe v Wade (and basic human decency) – shows that the Republican war to hijack our courts is succeeding.

Again and again, the GOP shows our country how little they care about governing, about community, about people by passing laws like this that attack our rights while turning people against one another. And right now, they're working extra hard to destroy our progressive majority in the House, so they can step these attacks up.

Our grassroots movement won't let that happen. Contribute $13 to fuel the fight!
