A simple question

Do you think that a law that predates the end of slavery, women's suffrage, and even Arizona's statehood should still stand? That's the question that was recently asked of the Arizona Supreme Court. Common sense tells us that the answer to this question should be a resounding no, but common sense isn't that common in today's Republican party.

Conservative justices on the AZ Supreme Court recently upheld an 1864 law, which institutes a near-total abortion ban. This is just the latest in the GOP's nationwide assault on abortion rights and reproductive freedoms in the wake of the Dobbs decision.

These attacks on our freedoms aren't going to stop anytime soon. If Donald Trump and his merry band of MAGA misfits return to power and have their way, abortion will be fully criminalized in this country. Make no mistake, this will have dire consequences for our country; the erosion of our personal freedom and bodily autonomy, and entirely preventable deaths.

But, there is a way out.

If Democrats retake control of the House and hold our Senate majority, we can restore the protections enumerated in Roe v. Wade as the law of the land and return control over deeply personal decisions to the hands of the people, not politicians. With the stakes this high, we cannot afford to take any seats for granted.
